DESCRIPTION
For Sale: This 1954 Citroen Traction Avant 11 BL is a well-maintained classic with a unique history. As the second owner since its original purchase, the current owner acquired the vehicle from the son of its original owner, an American seismologist named Pierre St Amand.
MECHANICAL
This ’54 Traction Avant 11 BL has a 1.9L 4-cylinder engine, paired with a 3-speed manual transmission, and features front-wheel drive. Modifications to the car include updated driveshafts to homokinetic versions and a diaphragm clutch plate, both original to later-model Citroens. The original engine was meticulously rebuilt by Garage Longueville in Santa Cruz, California.
Recent service includes an oil change and valve adjustment performed in 2020 by Historic Motor Sports. The odometer currently reads 2047 miles since the restoration. The car comes with a comprehensive set of documents, including repair receipts, previous registrations, and photos.
EXTERIOR
The exterior of this Citroen Traction Avant is finished in classic black. Originality was a priority during the vehicle’s restoration, so original equipment was used wherever possible.
INTERIOR
Inside, the car is finished with grey cloth and vinyl seats, door cards, and a grey/blue dash, accented by the black carpet and off-white steering wheel. There are minor tears noted on the headliner.
EXTRAS
The history of this vehicle adds to its charm. Purchased new in France in 1954, the original owner drove it for three months before shipping it to the United States. It remained in his possession until his passing in 2011, after which it was sold to me in 2012. The car comes with many original registration documents, reflecting its storied past. The car is currently for sale and is ready for a new owner who appreciates its historical significance and classic design.
